Plot:
Set in 1955, in the small Montana town of Northfork, the story follows a local priest (Nick Nolte) taking care of a dying 9-year-old orphan named Irwin, a boy who hopes to be adopted, even by a group of strange beings he thinks might be angels. As Irwin experiences fantastic, fever-induced dreams, the rest of the town watches the construction of a dam that will ultimately flood the area and drive them from their homes.
