Pirates Of The Carribean is a swashbuckling, fun-filled adventure recommended for kids of all ages. It has been a very long time since I enjoyed a movie of this genre immensely.

Everything about this movie seems right, from the freshness of the script to the wonderful characterization of the incorrigible "Jack Sparrow" played hilariously by Johnny Depp. I was never a certified Depp fan, but this movie converted me. Johnny Depp is a joy to watch. In fact, the most fun parts of the movie are when he is on screen. His potrayal of the whimsy, eccentric and utterly shameless pirate is indeed applaudable. Keira Knightley as the lovely "Elizabeth" is a natural and Orlando Bloom is entertaining as well. The movie has plenty of action. It is fast-paced and well connected. It has subtle but very effective comedy ... a bit overdone in a few places like the ghostly hand in the drawer and the dimwit Navy guards ..but still manages to draw spontaneous laughs out of you. It has everything one would expect in a Pirate movie ... swords, pistols, skull flags, floppy Pirate hats, treasure, curse, mystery, revenge, romance, a Pirate with a loose eyeball and a vicious looking monkey. The effects are great .. I particularly liked the underwater scene when the Pirates are springing an attack on the Navy.

The story begins when a young Orlando Bloom is rescued at sea by members of the Queen's navy and our young leading lady, of course. Sappy as it sounds, a great love is born and also a question .. Is our young William Turner [Bloom] a pirate?

Fast Forward a few years later, the lead pair is very much in love but unable to confess it. Enter "Jack Sparrow", standing tall on the tip of his boat's mast. He is looking for the legendary ship "The Black Pearl". It is unclear at this point whether the ship is a myth or reality. Within a matter of minutes Sparrow sways into the port, saves Elizabeth's life, duels with Will Turner and gets thrown into jail.

When Elizabeth is kidnapped by the wicked pirate "Barbossa" [Geoffrey Rush], Will Turner seeks Jack Sparrow's help to rescue her. What does Barbossa want so badly? Is the "Black Pearl" cursed as the title suggests? Will the lovely Elizabeth escape from the wicked pirates? How does the Aztec gold fit into all of this?.. Watch the movie to find out!! You won't be disappointed.
