Bhagmati — Queen of Fortunes, India’s first animation cum live film which is in the final stages of post production, has evoked considerable curiosity in trade circles, particularly at Cannes, where the stall put up by the marketing team attracted international VIP visitors including the director of the Cannes fest. Whose voice will the animated character of Bhagmati have? Well, wonder no more. Mahima Chaudhary it will be. She has just completed dubbing for the character. So involved was Mahima with the dubbing that she happily juggled dates so she could dub at a stretch for the film. The live segment of the film, presented by Subhash Chandra and directed by Ashok Kaul, features Tabu, Milind Soman, Somayajulu and Hema Malini (in a special appearance). Based on Hyderabad’s legendary love story between Quli Qutb Shah and the beauteous Bhagmati, the Hindi-English bilingual has music by Vishal Bharadwaj, lyrics by Nida Fazli, Dr Bashir Badr, Ashok Kaul and Abbas Tyrewala and cinematography by Thomas Xavier.
