The Matrix: Reloaded star Keanu Reeves is set to earn a staggering $22.5 million in the first week of the film's release - after negotiating a 15 per cent cut of box office profits. The sci-fi sequel, which hit cinemas in America last week and premieres in Britain tonight, is on course to smash box office records with takings of over $150 million worldwide in its first week. Which would mean an extra pay day for Reeves, who plays a computer hacker called upon to save the human race from computers who have taken over the world in the trilogy. An industry source tells British tabloid The Sun, "It is not unusual for the biggest stars to negotiate a box office percentage. It ensures that the big names return for sequels and it keeps their initial fee lower." Reeves, who will also appear in the third Matrix movie, Matrix Revolutions - due to hit movie theatres in November - is currently in talks with Warner Bros. about signing a $70 million three-picture deal. It will put him on the same pay level as A-list superstars Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks.
