American Idol star Ruben Studdard has followed up threats to sue his former manager for identity theft by filing a complaint with Birmingham, Alabama police. Studdard, who won the second season of the hit talent show, filed suit on Monday, claiming Ronald W. Edwards forged his signature, used his credit cards and gave himself unauthorised power of attorney over the singer's affairs. In the legal papers, Studdard claims the alleged forgery and identity theft took place over the course of the year following his May 2003 American Idol win. Edwards denies the allegations.
